After 3 years of traditional animation studies at the Royal Academy in Ghent (Belgium), in 2000 Joeri starts a company called Smokescreen with five classmates, to develop an animated TV series. With that same group, he then works as leading animator on the feature film Les Triplettes de Belleville. A few years later he joins Grid VFX, where he animates and storyboards a number of commercials.
In 2007, Joeri comes up with the concept of Plankton Invasion and creates an online mini-series, later adapted into a TV series coproduced by TeamTO, Tinkertree and Vivi Film.
During the production of Plankton Invasion, Joeri directs a short film entitled 850 meters, produced over the course of 3 years with a very small team. The short film is produced by Thuristar, the company he creates in 2008.
Between 2012 and 2016, Joeri creates and directs My Knight and Me – a 52×11’ TV spin-off of 850 meters, produced by TeamTO and Thuristar and co-written with Thierry Gaudin, to be completed at the end of the year.
Meanwhile he develops a new TV concept, Roger Flambe: (animated) actor which is currently in development with a pan-European network.
In 2015 Joeri co-founds La Cabane together with Perrine Gauthier, Frederik Segers and Manu Garijo.
