JOERI CHRISTIAEN
After 3 years of traditional animation studies at the Royal Academy in Ghent (Belgium), in 2000 Joeri started a company called Smokescreen with five classmates, to develop an animated TV series. With that same group, he then worked as leading animator on the feature film Les Triplettes de Belleville. A few years later he joined Grid VFX, where he animated and storyboarded a number of commercials.
In 2007, Joeri came up with the concept of Plankton Invasion and created an online mini-series, later adapted into a TV series. During the production of Plankton Invasion, Joeri directed 850 meters, a short film produced over the course of 3 years with a very small team. The film was produced by Thuristar, the company Joeri founded in 2008.
Between 2012 and 2016, Joeri created and directed My Knight and Me – a 52×11’ TV spin-off of 850 meters, co-written with Thierry Gaudin.
In 2015 Joeri co-founded La Cabane together with Perrine Gauthier, Frederik Segers and Manu Garijo.
Since 2018, Joeri is the director and art director of the animated series Mush-Mush and the Mushables, seasons 1 and 2, for which he also wrote several scripts. He’s currently developing a new project, a 26’ special designed for a family audience.
