Exciting times ahead! Britt Raes’ first series LUCE IN THE LOVELY LAND, which is developed by Thuristar and La Cabane, has been selected to be presented at the 2023 Cartoon Forum! The series, based on Britt’s short film LUCE AND THE ROCK, follows the adventures of 6 year-old Luce and her best friend, a giant rock creature, as they wander in the Lovely Land and make unexpected friends. The project is developed in partnership with VRT-Ketnet.
LUCE AND THE ROCK keeps reaching new heights and is screened at two amazing festivals this week!
The short has been selected to feature in the educational programme of the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, and is also nominated in the Young Audience category at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.
2023 already promises to be a great year for LUCE AND THE ROCK! The film has recently been selected for 5 more festivals taking place in the coming weeks and months:
Indiejunior in January, Play Lisbon in February, Monstra Lisbon Animation Festival and Fargo Film Festival in March as well as Psaroloco International Children’s & Young People’s Film Festival in April have all invited the short film to take part in their official competition. Big contrats to Britt Raes and the whole team!
New festival selections for Luce and the Rock! The short-film has been selected for Cinécran-Rencontres du Cinéma Européen in France, Fest-New directors in Portugal, Salaam Film Festival in Denmark, Silbersalz-International Science & Media Festival in Germany, Kikeriki – Kinder Kurzfilm festival Tulln in Austria and Festival des Nouveaux Cinemas in France.
Only a few months after the end of its production, and still at the very beginning of its festival journey, Luce and the Rock has already won 11 awards and been selected for 23 festivals.
The film won the Audience Award at the Go Short International Short Film Festival in the Netherlands, the Benshi Award for a Young Audience Film and the Best Music Award at the Festival National du Film d’animation in France, the Audience Award at Flatpack in UK, the ECFA Award at Mo&Friese in Germany and a special mention at Cinema in Sneakers in Poland. The festival selections highlights also include the Krakow Film Festival in Poland, the Sydney Film Festival in Australia and the Anibar Film Festival in Kosovo.
Britt Raes’ new short film Luce and the Rock is selected for Annecy 2022 to compete in the Young Audience category. The prestigious festival will take place in Annecy, France, May 29 – June 5.
Other selections came along to top the festivals joy, with Luce and the Rock being selected for JEF (Short Film competition, Belgium), RIGA International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS (Children’s program, Latvia), Brussels Short Film (National competition, Belgium), Indielisboa (IndieJunior competition, Portugal), Vila Do Conde (Curthinas competition, Portugal) and La Guarimba (La Grotta dei Piccoli competition category, Italy).
Mush-Mush & the Mushables will air on Tiny Pop, the fun-filled free-to-air children’s TV channel in the UK, every day at 7am and 6.30pm, starting May 21st!
